About Us/校史简介
The Tidewater Chinese School (a.k.a. TCS) was established in
1982 by a group of enthusiastic Chinese American parents from
Taiwan in
Hampton Roads area. Their purpose is to promote Chinese culture and
to provide youth the opportunity to learn
Chinese language and traditional culture.
The number of classes has grown from three to
nineteen in the past 28 years. We currently have
students and teachers from
different ethnic backgrounds and age.
We have over one
hundred fifty students enrolled for this semester of spring 2010.
They come from
Virginia Beach,
Norfolk,
Chesapeake,
Portsmouth,
Suffolk and Peninsula area.
We have the simplified and the traditional Chinese classes
from Beginner to 9th
grade to meet the
Chinese Education needs
from different region of China and the United States.
We also provide China history,
Geography and Culture 101,
Martial Arts,
Tai-chi and Chinese
Folk Dance, Erhu, Arts and Crafts classes.
